Pineapple Agua Fresca (How to make Agua Fresca de Piña)

This light, refreshing pineapple agua fresca is made from blended pineapple, water and sugar! It’s the perfect tropical drink to cool down with! Serve with fresh mint leaves and a squeeze of fresh lime.

  • 6 cups of fresh diced pineapple
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup sugar*
  • squeeze of fresh lime plus a few wedges for garnish
  • mint leaves for garnish

  1. Prepare the simple syrup by dissolving the sugar in 1/4 cup water and bringing it to a boil in a small saucepan. Boil for 1-2 minutes then let cool.*
  2. Using a blender, pulse the fresh pineapple and water on high speed for 1 minute.
  3. Strain the liquid using a mesh strainer into a pitcher. Discard any leftover pulp.
  4. Taste and add 1-2 tablespoons of simple syrup or sugar at a time, until you’ve reached your desired sweetness.
  5. Chill for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator or serve immediately over ice. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lime and garnish with fresh mint leaves.

  • *Dissolving the sugar in water first is optional. You can add it in granulated form to step 4 if you’d like.
  • Ripe pineapple = golden yellow in color, slight give when you tug on the crown.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar as needed, or omit completely depending on your taste.
  • Chill and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 6 months.
